Show-Stopping Vivid Hair Color Ideas You Need to See

by Mia Lopez

I’ve been looking at and loving vivid hair colors a lot lately. Vivid, bright, bold, edgy – call the whatever you prefer – these ones are some of my favorite hair colors to do right now!

There’s so many pretty colors you can try. Rainbow hair, unicorn, mermaid, color block, or just some simple bright highlights – it all looks so cool, and there’s something for every taste. Here are some of my latest clients and more vivid hair ideas that I really like. Let me show you them!

Aqua Meets Orange Split

One side is aqua and one side is orange. It looks so pretty on long straight flowy hair! The colors are different, but they go together super well. This hair makes me think of artsy, creative people. Add some (contrasting) color to your life!

Electric Lime Green

Lime green hair literally almost glows under certain lighting. It’s super bright and fun! Medium hair looks incredibly good with this color. Not everyone may be up for it, but I think it’s so cool if you like to stand out.

Orange Red Flame Streaks

These streaks are orange and red mixed. Long hair with streaks in it has so much pretty movement! It’s kind of like chunky highlights, but make them even chunkier. These streaks make your hair look like fire.

Hidden Rainbow Surprise

The rainbow colors hide under and in between layers of navy hair. Nobody sees them in full glory until you move your hair around! It’s a stunning (somewhat) secret rainbow. Good for people who can’t decide between colors – just get them all!

Cotton Candy Dreams

Pink and blue mixed together look like cotton candy to me. This particular hairstyle has wavy hair that’s medium length. The colors makes it so soft and sweet looking. Makes me want to eat actual cotton candy.

Pastel Pink with Neon Pops

Black roots growing out into pastel pink, then bright pink neon highlights on top. There’s like three different pinks happening! All the pinks together make it look really dimensional and different. I like how it has dark and light parts – the roots kind of look intentional here.

Mermaid Ombre Waves

Blue and teal, and green all blending on long wavy hair. It reminds me of the ocean’s depth. Mermaids probably have hair like this! The waves make it look even more like water.

Brown to Pink Fade

Starting dark brown at the top then going to soft pink. Long wavy hair shows the fade really well. It’s romantic looking, right? Plus you don’t have to dye your roots as much which is easier for maintenance.

Hot Pink and Lime Contrast

Hot pink with lime green highlights is crazy! Not everyone can pull this off. But on long wavy hair it looks like a tropical drink or something. The two colors together is really bold.

Opal Holographic Magic

This hair looks like an opal stone! It has all these pastel rainbow colors that shine different in the light! Loose waves make it sparkle and shift colors even more. Your hair will literally look like a jewel.

Sunset Fire Ombre

Red to orange to yellow like a sunset. Mid length hair with these warm colors is so pretty! I think it works for any season. Makes me feel warm just looking at it.

Oil Slick Bob

Teal highlights on dark brown bob hair. The teal peeks through the brown and it looks fancy. This one is more grown-up looking than some of the other ones. Still got that vivid color though!

Hot Pink to Fuchsia Melt

Hot pink turning into darker fuchsia pink. All one color family but different shades. Long voluminous hair shows off the melt really nicely. It’s bold but also looks put together. Love!

Blue Purple Pink Mermaid

Blue, purple and pink all on straight hair. You can see each color clearly because the hair is straight! Another mermaid look, but different colors than the other one. Like a watercolor painting.

Opal Pink Lavender Highlights

Pink and lavender highlights that are soft and opal colored. Long, wavy-styled hair makes these colors look magical. Not as bright as some colors, but still really pretty! Fairy vibes for sure.

Midnight Navy Blue

Just navy blue all over. Long straight hair in one solid vivid color. The blue is dark, but you can still tell its blue and not black. Very dramatic and moody in a good way. Midnight blue is definitely having a moment in hair trends right now.

Sunset Ombre Wolf Cut

Red, orange, and yellow on a shaggy wolf cut. The choppy layers make the colors look more interesting! Wolf cuts are so on-trend right now. This one got that edgy rock’n’roll vibe.

Black to Lavender Fade

Black hair fading into lavender purple. Mid length hair with this fade looks a little gothic. Lavender is such a nice color on everyone. The transition between the colors is smooth and gradual.

Magenta Highlights on Brown

Dark magenta highlights mixed into brown wavy hair. Just a pop of color, not too much. The waves help everything blend naturally. It’s not crazy, but you still got vivid color in there.

Neon Yellow Bob

Super bright neon yellow on a bob. Shoulder-length hair in this color is so happy looking! Makes you feel good just seeing it. Shorter hair is easier to take care of when you have vivid colors.

Unicorn Hair Melt

Pink, blue and lavender melting together on long hair. Unicorn hair is what everyone calls these pastel rainbow colors! The colors is soft but still bright enough. Whimsical and magical looking.

Magenta to Coral Fade

Magenta going into coral orange on medium straight hair. The ends are flipped out, which makes the hairstyle super cute! It kind of looks retro to me. Magenta and coral together is a combo that’s kind of subtle and low-contrast, but it works perfectly.

Rainbow Ribbon Layers

Dark rainbow colors on long straight layered hair. It’s kind of like rainbow hair but the colors are darker and richer, anchored in navy blue. The layers show all the different colors hiding. Like grown-up rainbow hair!

Burgundy Wine Red

Deep burgundy red on long curled hair. This color is rich and fancy looking. If you want vivid color but more elegant this is for you. Wine red is so pretty and sophisticated.

Teal with Purple Pink Accent

Teal ombre with purple and pink on brown medium hair. Cool colors on warm brown looks really interesting! The mix of all these colors together gives fantasy feel. Super unique combination.

Black to Hot Pink Ombre

Black fading to hot pink on medium hair. The contrast is really striking between the black and bright pink! This combo never gets old. A classic for vivid hair.

Teal Orange Split Waves

Teal on one side orange on the other side. Long, wavy hair makes the split softer where they meet. These colors are opposite, but somehow they looks even better together. The waves help them blend a little. For a more interesting look, do a side part and let the colors mix together on one side.

Turquoise Teal Waves

All turquoise teal on super long hair. This color makes me think of beaches! Not neon bright but still really vibrant. Waves give it movement and make the color more dimensional.

Soft Pastel Peach Pink

Soft peachy pink color on medium hair. This one is delicate, pretty, and subtle. Still vivid but not as crazy as some others. Really feminine and sweet.

Peacock Inspired Colors

Green, teal, purple and blue all blend together beautifully in this hairstyle. Long voluminous hair with all these colors looks like peacock feathers! This is probably the most colors in one look. So much volume shows off how pretty the colors flow.
