Medium length hair on women over 60 is something I could talk about all day honestly. I see so many clients come into the salon convinced they have to chop everything off once they hit a certain age and I just do not think that is true at all. There is something about that in-between length that just works, it moves, it flatters, and it does not ask too much of you in the morning.
Whether you are going full silver or holding onto your color for a little longer, the cuts in this list have something for everyone. I put together a whole comprehensive list of my favorite medium length looks – some my own work, and others from my friend hairstylists – and some of them genuinely stopped me in my tracks. Layers, shags, bobs, lobs, wispy bangs, you name it, it is in here.
Dark Brown Layers with Silver Face-Framing Highlights

I think this one is really elegant in such a simple way. It is a long layered lob in deep brown with soft silver highlights right around the face to brighten everything up. The ends have a gentle flip and there is a lot of nice movement in the layers. If you are in between brown and gray this blended look is such a good in-between option.
Rich Auburn Sleek A-Line Bob

That color is something else, honestly. Deep mahogany auburn with warm golden pieces running through it and the cut is a clean A-line bob that hits near the collarbone in front. There is no texture here at all, just a really smooth sleek finish that lets the color be the whole point. Straight or fine hair would look amazing with this.
Icy Platinum Beachy Wavy Bob

This is giving total coastal cool and I am so into it. The color is pure white-platinum and the waves are soft and kind of undone in the best way. It hits right at the jaw which is so flattering and the texture keeps it from feeling stiff or overdone. Anyone with naturally white or silver hair should really consider this one.
Warm Golden Blonde Voluminous Flip Lob

So much body and bounce in this style, I love it. It is a warm golden blonde lob at the collarbone with layers that flip out for really pretty movement. Kind of has that 70s blowout feel which I think is always a good thing. Medium to thick hair with some natural body would really shine here.
Silver-Gray Polished Bob with Side-Swept Fringe

This is just a classic that works every single time. Cool silver-gray, shoulder length, ends tucked under, and a soft side fringe that adds some gentleness around the face. The whole thing is really polished and put together without being stiff. And honestly it probably takes like five minutes to style in the morning.
Steel Gray Sleek Layered Lob

There is something about this one that feels really chic to me. Salt-and-pepper gray with long smooth layers that all move in the same direction with a slight bend at the ends. The shine on this is so good and it gives it almost an editorial quality. Fine to medium hair would look so sleek and expensive with this cut.
Dark Chocolate Lob with Honey Highlights

Rich dark brown with warm honey and caramel pieces through it, and I think the combo is just stunning. The layers are cut to give a lot of lift and the flipped ends add this retro-glam thing that feels really fresh. There is so much movement in this style which I love. Thick hair that needs some structure would do really well here.
Silver Shag with Wispy Fringe

This gray shag is so good and I love everything about it. Choppy layers go all the way through and the fringe is wispy and soft around the face. Dark charcoal mixed with bright silver gives it so much depth and it looks cool without trying too hard. Really thick or coarse hair would do so well with this cut.
Deep Brown Lob with Caramel Swooped Layers

This is a really clean modern version of the layered lob and I think it is so pretty. Deep warm brown with thin caramel highlights and the layers swoop forward in a sleek controlled way. Just a little bend at the ends keeps it from looking flat. Straight or barely wavy hair would look really intentional and refined with this.
Warm Copper Feathered Long Layers

That strawberry-copper color is so warm and flattering and I think it works on so many people. Long feathered layers fall past the collarbone with this really airy light feel to them. It does not look overdone at all, just natural and easy. Fine hair that needs movement without bulk is going to love this cut.
Salt and Pepper Lob with Wispy Bangs and Flip Ends

This salt-and-pepper lob is so cool and I mean that sincerely. The charcoal and silver mix is naturally beautiful and the wispy see-through fringe adds a lot of softness to the face. Ends flip out with a relaxed easy feel and nothing about it looks overly done. Such a good option for anyone who is embracing their natural gray and wants some life and texture in the cut.
Warm Auburn Voluminous Layered Bob

Okay this one is full glam and I am here for every bit of it. Rich warm auburn with layers that curl and flip in different directions for so much body and drama. The color is vibrant but not harsh and the volume is the kind that just makes you feel good. Medium to thick hair is going to absolutely love this style.
Medium Auburn Shag with Bangs

This is a more relaxed take on auburn and I really like it for that reason. Warm cinnamon brown in a medium shag with soft wispy bangs that sweep a little to the side. The layers fall naturally and the whole finish is slightly undone in the nicest way. It is a really wearable everyday look for someone who wants warmth without a lot of upkeep.
Ash Taupe Greige Smooth Layered Lob

This color is one of my personal favorites for anyone going silver. It is that cool ash taupe-greige tone that is not quite gray and not quite brown, which I think is so chic. Long smooth layers and a side part give it a soft grown-up elegance. The ends turn slightly inward which keeps the whole shape looking neat and polished.
Ash Blonde-Silver Lob with Wispy Fringe and Curled Ends

This one has such a sweet feminine feel to it. Cool ash blonde-silver with wispy fringe that hits just at the brows and ends that curl under for a soft rounded shape. The fringe is so flattering on the forehead and the curled ends give it a little retro charm. Someone who wants something polished and playful at the same time would love this.
Icy Silver Tousled Wavy Lob

This is effortless in the best possible way. Bright icy silver at the shoulder with loose tousled waves that have this really natural undone look. The texture is so good and the waves catch the light and make the silver look almost glowy. Naturally wavy or fine-wavy hair that you want to play up instead of fight would be perfect for this.
Platinum White Layered Lob with Fringe

Wow this one is just stunning and I keep coming back to it. Icy platinum-white with long flowing layers and a soft wispy fringe that frames the face in a really gentle way. There is so much movement in the layers and nothing about it feels heavy. Anyone with naturally light or white hair who wants a little drama without a lot of work should look at this one.
Pure White Sleek Blunt Bob

Minimal and kind of iconic, honestly. Chin-length blunt bob in the most pristine pure white with a deep side part and a completely straight smooth finish. No layers, no texture, nothing extra, just a clean precise line and that incredible color. It is a bold choice and it is the kind of bold that really pays off.
Golden Honey Blonde Voluminous Layered Flip

Classic and glamorous and so full of life, this cut is really something. Golden honey blonde with sweeping layers that lift away from the head and curl outward in this beautiful voluminous flip. The movement is incredible and the shape is full and rounded in a really flattering way. Thick or medium-thick hair is going to look so good here.
Sandy Blonde Shag with Fringe

This sandy blonde shag is so laid-back and I love that about it. Wispy curtain fringe, choppy layers through the length, and a slightly tousled finish that looks great without a ton of effort. The color is a warm natural blonde with softer pieces throughout that feel sun-kissed and easy. Medium-textured hair with a little wave or movement is going to really work well with this.
Vibrant Copper Layered Lob with Side-Swept Bangs

That vibrant copper-auburn color just commands attention and I think it is so beautiful. Long layers are styled into a smooth swooped finish and the side-swept bangs frame the face in a really lovely way. It is polished and warm without being severe at all. If you love a bold warm color and want something that looks great from every angle this is a really good option.
Salt and Pepper Wavy Shag with Blunt Fringe

This is such a cool modern take on gray hair and I genuinely love it. Dark charcoal and bright silver in a medium shag, and the blunt fringe right above the brows gives it this edgy fashion-forward feel. Waves are natural-looking and the layers give it a really relaxed lived-in texture. Wavy or lightly curly hair that you want to work with rather than against would do so well here.
Silver-Gray Layered Bob with Swept Fringe

This smooth silver-gray bob is just consistently pretty and I think it works on almost everyone. Cool gray with just a touch of warmth and layers that sweep gently outward for a rounded feminine shape. A soft side fringe adds some softness around the face without looking heavy or outdated. It is reliable and flattering and really easy to maintain.
Warm Honey Blonde Sleek Layered Lob with Flipped Ends

Warm, polished, and totally timeless, this honey golden blonde lob is so pretty. There are subtle brighter pieces woven through for some dimension and the layers flip outward at the ends for that classic voluminous finish. The silhouette is smooth and controlled which I really like. Straight or slightly wavy hair is going to look so good with this.
Silver-White Retro Voluminous Bob

This one has such a beautiful old-Hollywood feel to it. Soft silver-white with voluminous waves and curls that give it this really romantic rounded shape. Face-framing layers and soft wispy pieces at the front add a feminine quality that I think is just lovely. Naturally wavy or curly hair that holds a set would look incredible here.
Silver-Blonde Curly Bob

I love this one so much for curly-haired ladies. Warm silver-blonde in a collarbone-grazing bob that is cut to actually work with the curls instead of fighting them. The curl definition is so good and the shape is full and bouncy in the most flattering way. If you have natural curl and have been fighting it your whole life, this is your sign to just let it be.
Golden Blonde Choppy Layered Bob with Flip

This golden blonde layered bob is fresh and I think the choppiness is what makes it work. Brighter honey highlights through the mid-lengths and ends, and the layers have just enough texture to keep it from looking too safe or predictable. Ends flip out with nice easy movement. Medium to thick hair that needs some weight removed is really going to come alive with this cut.
Dark Charcoal Gray Layered Lob with Feathered Ends

This dark charcoal gray lob is sophisticated and I think it is really striking. Deep steel gray with softer silver pieces and the layers feather out at the ends for a light airy finish. The side part gives it a polished quality that feels very grown-up without being stiff. Anyone whose natural gray is on the darker end is going to love how much this cut lets that color shine.
Warm Peach-Apricot Copper Shag with Wispy Bangs

This might be my favorite color in the whole post, I am not even kidding. It is this warm peachy apricot copper that feels totally fresh and modern without any brassiness to it. Shaggy layers and wispy fringe give the cut a relaxed bohemian feel that I really love. The length hits around the collarbone which makes it really versatile and easy to work with every day.
