Okay so I have a confession. I spent way too long putting this post together because I kept stopping to stare at the pictures. Which is maybe not the most efficient way to work, but here we are. If you are over 50 and you think your best hair styles are behind you, I really need you to keep scrolling.
There is so much good stuff ahead. Short and spiky, sleek and polished, long and flowy, bold colors, natural silvers, the whole thing. I pulled together a whole fun list of looks that actually made me stop and go wow, and I think at least one of them is going to do the same thing to you.
Silver-Mauve Spiky Textured Pixie

Okay this color is not silver and it is not purple but it is somehow both at the same time. I love it so much. It has this cool silvery taupe base with just a tiny bit of pink-purple in it and it looks really intentional. The cut is choppy on top with pieces that stick up and out, and the sides are cut close and clean. If you have fine or medium hair and you want something that looks like you tried without actually trying that hard, this is it.
Burnt Copper Voluminous Pixie with Swept Top

That color is everything to me. It is this deep fiery burnt copper, kind of like russet and red-orange all mixed together, and I cannot stop looking at it. The top has so much volume and the pieces are long enough to sweep around, which I love. Little wispy bits fall around the face and it keeps things soft even though the color is bold. Fine to medium hair would do really well with this cut.
Pastel Lavender Textured Pixie

I did not know I needed a lavender pixie until I saw this and now here we are. The color is soft and muted, not bright or neon at all, more like a dreamy faded lilac. Everything on top is swept back and up so there is a lot of height to it. It feels young and fun without trying too hard, which is honestly the goal. And this color gets even prettier as it fades, which is a nice bonus.
Dark Root to Champagne Blonde Choppy Pixie Bob

There is a lot going on with this one and it all works perfectly together. The roots are darker and then it melts into this sandy champagne blonde and all the tones catch the light as the hair moves. It is a longer pixie-bob kind of situation with lots of choppy layers all through it. If you have thicker hair and you have been scared to go short, look at this and tell me you are not tempted. It has so much life and movement to it.
Jet Black Textured Pixie with Wispy Fringe

A jet black pixie just hits different and I really believe that. This one has a piece-y fringe that sweeps to the side in a really cool way. The top is lifted and spiky and the sides are short and tight which makes everything else pop. It is bold and polished and a little bit edgy all at the same time. I honestly think this is one of the most striking looks in this whole post.
Ice White Sleek Blunt Lob

This might be the most polished look in the whole post. The color is a bright flawless ice white, fully platinum, with no yellow anywhere at all. It is cut into a sleek blunt lob with a center part and it falls right at the collarbone. The finish is smooth and mirror-like and it lets the color do all the talking. It is high maintenance but on the right person it is completely jaw-dropping.
Warm Auburn Choppy Pixie Bob with Wispy Layers

This cut has so much personality and I love every single thing about it. The color is a warm golden auburn with a little copper running through it. There are tons of wispy choppy layers all through the cut that create this beautiful effortless texture. A soft fringe is swept to the side and the ends all through it are feathery and light. Fine or medium hair that goes flat a lot would seriously benefit from a cut like this.
Deep Cherry Burgundy Sleek A-Line Bob

That color is stunning and I cannot say it any other way. It is a deep glossy cherry red with violet running through it, like a really rich burgundy cranked all the way up. The cut is a clean A-line bob that is shorter in the back and sweeps longer toward the chin in the front. Everything is smooth and polished and the shine is incredible. Medium to coarser hair types are going to love this because the weight helps it lay so perfectly.
Icy Platinum Sleek A-Line Lob

This one is clean and elegant and it looks almost unreal. The color is a bright icy platinum with a cool silvery undertone, not white but not fully silver either, just perfectly cool and luminous. It is cut into an A-line lob with a side part that sweeps from shorter in the back to collarbone length in the front. The finish is super sleek and smooth. It works for a work meeting or a dinner out and that kind of versatility is honestly everything to me.
Dirty Blonde to Champagne Layered Lob with Volume

Big beautiful hair and I have no notes. The color goes from a darker dirtier blonde at the roots into a lighter champagne and golden blonde through the lengths and ends. All those layers catch the light in such a gorgeous way as the hair moves. It is a long layered lob sitting below the collarbone with big flipped voluminous layers that create tons of body. Thicker or medium hair is going to look absolutely incredible with this style.
Steel Gray Classic Pixie with Soft Fringe

This one is for the person who wants short hair but does not want to feel like they went too far. The color is a cool steel gray and it is really pretty. There is a soft little fringe that sweeps forward and it makes the whole thing feel feminine, not harsh. I think this works on pretty much any face shape which is a big deal. The texture on top is controlled and not too wild, so it always looks neat and put together.
Salt and Pepper Shaggy Bob with Curtain Bangs

More people should be asking for this cut, I am just going to say it. The color is a natural salt and pepper mix, so silvery strands blended with darker ones, and it is really beautiful. The cut is choppy and razored and it falls right at the jaw with these wispy curtain bangs parted in the middle. Everything looks tousled and a little undone and it has this artistic cool-girl vibe that I love. Wavy or fine hair would do really well with this one.
Dark Root to Caramel Balayage Choppy Layered Lob

This is the warm balayage that everyone always asks me for and I totally get why. It starts with a deeper brown at the root and then goes into caramel and honey blonde through the ends and it is so warm and pretty. There is a soft side-swept fringe that is really flattering around the face. The lob has choppy layered ends and hits somewhere between the chin and collarbone. It also looks great on day two or three which is a huge win.
Silver Blonde Blunt A-Line Bob

This is the kind of hair that looks chic without trying and that is the hardest thing to pull off. The color is a cool silver blonde that is lighter than gray but not quite platinum, and it looks like really gorgeous natural highlights almost. It is cut into a clean straight A-line bob with a center part hitting at the jaw. The finish is smooth and simple. The cool tone really gets to shine because there is nothing competing with it.
Blue-Black Tousled Pixie with Piece-y Fringe

This pixie is giving serious off-duty cool and I am completely obsessed with it. The color is a very deep almost blue-black with this subtle sheen to it that is really beautiful. The texture on top is tousled and piece-y and the fringe falls forward in this very casual way that I love. Sides are short and tight which gives it a really modern edge. Thicker or coarser hair with natural body is going to hold that lifted texture so well.
Deep Mahogany Stacked Rounded Bob with Copper Highlights

The color on this one is really special. It is a deep rich mahogany base with warm copper and caramel highlights woven through, and when the light hits it, wow. The cut is a stacked rounded bob right at the jaw, really polished and smooth, and all that beautiful color flows in one direction. The shine is incredible. Straight to slightly wavy hair is going to absolutely love this style.
Bright White Textured Pixie with Wispy Fringe

This look is confident and bold and it does not apologize for itself at all. The color is a pure snow white, not silver and not platinum, just clean and white all the way through. It pops so much against the lines of the cut. The pixie has close-cropped sides and a wispy feathery fringe swept softly to one side with just a little texture on top to keep things interesting. If you are going gray naturally and thinking about leaning all the way into it, save this picture immediately.
Medium Gray Lavender-Toned Short Pixie Bob

This shade of gray is one of my favorites I have ever seen. It is a medium gray with the most subtle lavender and violet undertone running through it, and it makes the whole thing look intentional and really modern. The cut is a short pixie bob with sweeping layers on top and a soft side-swept fringe. Everything moves nicely and has this natural, lived-in texture to it. If you are transitioning to natural gray and you want it to feel purposeful and beautiful, this is a great one to look at.
Ice White Dramatic Spiky Pixie

The styling on this one is what takes it to a whole other level. It is a pure bright ice white which already looks amazing. The cut has these dramatically lifted spiky layers on top that create serious height, almost like a sculpture almost. Sides are close and clean so all that wild movement on top is the whole star of the show. Fine to medium hair is going to love this because you get maximum impact without needing a lot of length to pull it off.
Warm Honey Blonde Long Layered Cut with Flipped Ends

Not everybody wants to go short and this look is here to remind you that you do not have to. The color is a warm honey blonde with lighter golden pieces through it that look really pretty in the light. It is a long layered cut that hits at the collarbone with these classic flipped-out voluminous ends that have a little retro feel to them which I love. The layers give it so much body and movement. Medium to thick hair is going to shine with a style like this.
Silver White Sleek A-Line Lob with Center Part

This is the sleek silver lob that I feel like is on everyone’s vision board right now and it makes total sense. The color is a silver white that is even and seamless from root to end. It is cut into a clean A-line lob with a center part that hits at the collarbone and the finish is silky smooth. It is minimal and modern and has this really effortless cool-girl energy. It also works on a lot of different face shapes which makes it a really safe bet if you are nervous about going for something new.
Golden Blonde Layered Shag with Curtain Bangs

This one is warm and soft and full of movement and I just love how it feels. The color is a warm golden blonde with lighter pieces through it that look really natural and sun-kissed. There are curtain bangs parted in the middle that frame the face in such a flattering way. The cut is a shoulder-length layered shag with fluffy voluminous layers that have a really bouncy romantic vibe. Women with medium to thick hair who want shape and softness without a big dramatic change should really consider this one.
