Okay so the shaggy lob is one of my favorite looks right now! I’m seeing it so much in terms of trendy haircuts right now. It’s literally one of the most requested cuts I do these days. Your hair can be straight, wavy, curly, thick, thin – doesn’t matter, you can still create that textured shaggy lob look.
So what even is a shaggy lob? It’s basically a long bob (that’s where “lob” comes from) but with tons of choppy layers that make it look messy and cool instead of neat and polished. The length usually hits somewhere between your chin and shoulders. I put together different color and style ideas because there are so many ways you can rock this cut, and I wanted to show you pretty much everything!
1. Ash Beige Dream

So this color is ash beige and it looks really pretty on a lob that hits your shoulders. The cool tones are soft though, not harsh. Light hits it and it just looks amazing every time. Your roots won’t look bad when they grow out because everything blends so nice.
2. Classic Ash Blonde Vibes

Ash blonde on a shaggy lob? Perfect combo. The layers are choppy and give you that messy look. Even if you haven’t washed your hair in days it still looks good, trust me. I tell clients to get this all the time when they wanna go lighter but keep it natural.
3. Ash Blonde with Shadow Root

Adding a shadow root is smart. It makes your color last longer between salon visits which saves you money. Your face gets framed by the darker root and the blonde looks even better. When your roots grow out it doesn’t even look bad, it looks like you planned it that way.
4. Bronde Textured Perfection

Can’t pick between blonde or brown? Get bronde. This color mixes both and looks good all year. The choppy ends on this cut give you movement. It’s rich looking and has so many different tones in it.
5. Dark & Dramatic with Bangs

Dark brown with layers and side bangs is classic. It looks fancy but also cool. Layers keep your hair from being too heavy. Side bangs are way easier than straight bangs, I promise.
6. Chocolate with Subtle Shine

Chocolate brown looks so good with just a few highlights added in. Brunettes love this when they don’t wanna go super light. The highlights make your hair look shiny and healthy. It’s subtle so people won’t even know you did anything, they’ll just think your hair looks really good.
7. Platinum Ombre Magic

This one has more contrast. Brown fades into icy blonde and it’s gorgeous. You get that beachy thing going on. Shaggy layers blend it all together so you don’t get weird stripes or anything.
8. Auburn with Curtain Bangs

Auburn is so trendy right now. The red tones look good on most people. Curtain bangs don’t need much work which is nice. This whole look gives you French girl vibes.
9. Butter Blonde with Dark Roots

Butter blonde is softer than platinum. Dark roots mean less salon trips. The color is pretty and bright but not too much. You get to be blonde without all the annoying upkeep.
10. Copper Ombre Goddess

Copper auburn is fire, literally! Bold but it doesn’t look fake. Looks amazing in summer and fall both. More color on the ends shows off all those layers you got.
11. Blonde Balayage Waves

This looks like you just woke up perfect. Side part with waves and blonde balayage is so pretty. The color follows how your hair moves naturally. Takes great pictures too.
12. Rich Dark Chocolate

Just one dark chocolate color, no highlights or anything. The layers keep it from being flat. Sometimes you don’t need color to look amazing. Simple can be the best.
13. Sunny Ombre Drama

Super light platinum on the ends with dark roots is bold. The contrast is really eye-catching. You gotta keep up with this one though or it’ll turn yellow and look bad.
14. Black Blue Mystique

Black with blue tones is different and artsy. The blue adds depth and looks cool in the light. Curtain bangs soften it up. This is for people who want something unique.
15. Espresso Balayage Warmth

Espresso brown is rich and warm. The balayage adds dimension without changing your color too much. Always looks expensive. Your hair will look so healthy with this.
16. Golden Blonde Waves

Golden blonde gives you California vibes. The warm tones work if your skin has warm undertones too. Shadow root means less maintenance but you still get to be blonde. Win win.
17. Rosy Blonde Edge

Rosy blonde is super cool and warm-toned. Really striking and people will stare. You need to tone this a lot though. If you don’t keep up with it, it’ll fade yellow real fast.
18. Medium Brown with Bangs

Medium brown is so easy and looks good on everyone. Doesn’t clash with anything you wear. Curtain bangs are back in style big time. This is trendy but not crazy.
19. Platinum Perfection

Going super light blonde? This is it. Balayage keeps it from looking flat even though you’re basically all blonde. Purple shampoo will be your life now though.
20. Chestnut Curtain Bangs

Chestnut brown is warm but not too red. Really flattering and you barely have to do anything to maintain it. Curtain bangs give you interest without committing to full bangs.
21. Mushroom Ombre

Mushroom brown is unique. It’s like brown but with gray in it. Different from all the warm browns everyone else has. The ombre on the layers creates pretty movement.
22. Platinum Silver Shaggy Lob

Platinum silver is for brave people. Super modern and cool-toned. Looks amazing but you gotta work for it. If you’re willing to put in the effort this is stunning.
23. Brunette to Copper Curls

Curly lob with brunette to warm copper? Amazing. Your curls show off all the color. Creates natural-looking ribbons of copper throughout. If your hair is naturally curly this style lets your texture shine while still being shaggy.
24. Ash Blonde Waves

Ash blonde with waves and a shadow root works for everything. The waves add body. Shadow root is easier to deal with. Casual days or going out, this works.
25. Ash Brown Wispy Bangs

Ash brown with wispy curtain bangs looks soft. The wispy fringe is flattering around your face. Ash tones are cooler so they can help if your skin gets red.
26. Brunette Caramel Blend

Brunette with caramel is one of my most requested colors. So warm and dimensional. The caramel adds brightness without being too light. Safe way to change brunette hair without doing too much.
27. Golden Blonde Classic

Golden blonde balayage never goes out of style. The warm golden tones flatter so many people. Bright enough to feel different but not so light you’ll live at the salon.
28. Inky Black with Bangs

Black with curtain bangs is sleek. Black can look harsh sometimes but the shaggy layers soften it. No roots showing or color fading to worry about with black either.
29. Ash Blonde Ombre Sweep

Ash blonde ombre with side bangs is edgy but polished. Ombre is more dramatic than balayage. Side swept bangs grow out better than straight bangs do.
30. Golden Blonde Softness

This has everything. Shadow root for depth, golden blonde for warmth, curtain bangs for face framing. Checks all my boxes.
31. Bronde Gold Luxe

Bronde gold to platinum blonde is feminine. It’s blonde with a peachy pink tone to it. This color is trending because it’s different but not too weird. Balayage blends it nice so it grows out pretty.
